5 VotesMiracle Litter! – 16 Dalmatian Puppies – Whew.
A Huge Litter
Owners of a Dalmatian who gave birth to a huge litter of pups had to have a letter signed by vets to confirm the unusually large brood.
Milly, who gave birth to 16 pups six weeks ago was coincidentally one of 16 herself.
Owners Lisa and Terry Elvins, said registering the pups with the Kennel club was difficult because no one believed Milly had had such a large litter.
Eight Was Not Enough
Veterinarians couldn’t believe the unusually large litter either when they performed a caesarian operation on Milly.
Mrs Elvins said, “During the caesarian the vet pulled out eight puppies and gave a sigh, so we thought that was it – but there were still eight more to go.
It’s really unusual to have so many puppies in one litter.”
Hard At Work
Mrs Elvins said they have decided to keep one, named Maisie and the rest will be available to loving homes.
She said, “Everyone loves having the dogs around, my daughter had her 21st birthday party recently and the puppies were a big hit.
It is really hard work looking after 16 dogs, but at the same time it’s lovely and rewarding.”
Not quite 101: The puppies will soon be rehomed but the family will keep one, named Maisie
