Best Friends

This is Bernie, she is a Labradoodle. To me, she is my sister and my best friend since Summer of 2005. She can be insane and very puppy like (although she’ll be six on July 4th). I hate leaving for school in the morning or going away on vacations where she cannot come. I would rather stay home and hangout with her then anything else most of the time. We could spend forever outside on walks, up north or the piers back in California. She gets dim when I leave but when I come back home, I am greeted with tons of kisses and her wagging tail. As a doodle, she jumps and hugs people, yes hugs. She’s a bit of a troublemaker, but I guess we have that in common. She somehow manages to take up almost all of the room in my queen bed, but is way warmer than a comforter. She’s a notorious jokester and a blast to be around. We have two other dogs, Vegas (A 4 yr old yorkie poo) and Marlowe (a 9 mth old yorkie), she is great with both of them, but doesn’t acknowledge her size in comparison to theirs. Whether I am happy as all or really down in the dumps, Bernie is always there for me. She never leaves my side and always knows what is up. She is that one person (dog haha) that I know will always know me better than others. She has taught me what it means to be a friend and a better human being. She knows when I’ve done something wrong, strangely she always gives me “the look” You would know if you got it. She’s very sassy and extremely bright, you can teach her anything (as long as you have some cheese as a reward). She loves milkbones and finding socks… This year I am graduating early from high school, one big deciding factor of where I am going is whether I can bring my dog with me.
It may seem silly, but why prepare a future with out the ones you love most in it.
I love you Bernie, always and forever – no matter what.
XOXO
your best friend,
M
