Tribute to Mark
This is my best friend, Mark. He was a 7, almost 8 year old golden retriever. Yeah, he’s got a really white face, but he’s my puppy, okay? He had a stroke once and we thought we were gonna lose him, but he came back all the way. He swam and fetched and ran and skijorned, but he was pushed a little too far on a winter hike February 2011 when he suffered another stroke. We took him to the pet emergency hospital where they pronounced him basically dead. He was breathing, but he wasn’t with us anymore. For 2 days he laid on the dog bed in our living room; not really there at all. I spent a lot of time cuddling him and loving, hoping that he’d make it through this stroke, too. My father felt guilty about how this beautiful golden retriever looked covered in his own drool so he went to clean him off. He turned him over and that must have been it because Mark left us.
I trained that dog to fetch, to roll over, to shake, to lick, to love, to be a great dog but he already knew. He was the best dog I’ve ever had and I miss him so much everyday. I am almost in tears as I type this. This girl lost her doggy and she misses him.
