i still love her to pieces

Tribute to Kelly

This is Kelly. My family had no idea what kind of dog she was when we adopted her from the Humane Society, and we still don’t. Her mother was a springer spaniel, if you can believe it.

She passed away earlier this year, at the ripe old age of 15. (She’s about 14 in this photo.) She always acted like a puppy though, and looked like one too!

I still miss her terribly. She was my constant best friend growing up. I still love her to pieces, and always will.

She totally looks like a puppy in that picture! Didn’t age a day…. ;)

I lost my Jake, my golden lab, in September
of last year… too early at 12…still not over it and probably never will be completely – there really is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog, you just have to hang on to the good memories and know they are in a better place. I truly hope we did spoil him rotten, because he did for us.

All I do is tear up at these tributes because now I know what love is for your dog and the dog teaches us so much about loyalty. I have my first dog late in life after retirement. And I dread the day I have to say goodbye to my little girl. This little cocker opened my life to so many possibilities. Help us all to celebrate our pets with joy even though it hurts that we can’t see them frocking. I pray my cocker will say goodbye in a peaceful unafraid state and that I have the strength to carry on.
