Blind Dog Gets His Own Guide Dog

Posted on Monday, March 14, 2011

Based on a story by the dailymail:

Graham Waspe was devastated when his guide dog Edward was left blind from a rare form of Glaucoma. After 6 years of loyal service, Edward was no longer able to guide Graham. Fortunately, for both of them Opal a yellow Lab was up to the task.

Edward, an eight-year-old Labrador, has been retired for four months. Now, to get around, he listens to commands given by Graham to Opal so he knows when to turn right or left. He follows Opal quite closely and listens to her foot-fall.

The two dogs have become fast friends. They make presentations at local schools together. Edward still loves nothing more than to be around children, have his tummy tickled and receive lots of love and attention.
