Walter is found…

On Easter Sunday night, Alex Darsey was walking outside his house in Brooklyn when a scared little puppy approached him out of nowhere. A neighbor told Alex that they had seen someone throw the puppy out of a car and then continue to drive off.
Alex made the decision to bring the puppy home and called him Walter. The scared puppy was malnourished, dehydrated and had a bad case of mange. Alex gathered some friends to take Walter to the emergency room that night. At the vets the next morning they estimated Walter to be between 2 and 3 months old, agreed that he had a long road ahead but thought he had a good chance to grow up and lead a healthy, happy life.

A Group of Friends Begin to Help • • • • • • •
This  group of friends mad the decision to try to help this sweet, loving puppy get better. The vet put him on antibiotics and bathed him with medicated soap to help soothe his skin. After a few days of baths, hearty meals and lots and lots of love and attention, Walter seemed to be doing really well. Unfortunately, 2 days later, Walter lost his appetite, and his body temperature and electrolytes began to drop. They brought him back to the emergency room again. His temperature was so low it didn’t even register on the thermometer. They put the little puppy in a heated incubator and gave him fluids through an IV. After this turn for the worse they asked themselves whether it was in Walter’s best interest to continue treatment, as the little guy was fighting to survive. Emergency care can be very expensive, and they didn’t know how long he’d have to stay there.

A Decision is Made • • • • • • •
The friends decided that as long as Walter was fighting to stick around, they would fight with him.
They created a blog and a facebook page and asked for help from the public. There was no shortage of people to care for this pup and he did have a home waiting for him, they just needed to get him strong enough.

Here’s the latest facebook update on this brave sweet little guy:
